The Architect

You build things that will stand after you have stopped touching them. People rely on you because your word is structural. If you said it would be done, it is done, and this has made you the person everyone else's plans are quietly built on top of.

The price is an equation you have never questioned: that you are worth what you have completed. It means rest registers as decline. It means the finished project gives you about four days of peace before the next one becomes mandatory. And it means you cannot receive praise, only audit it. You have never once stopped and found yourself sufficient in the pause, because you have arranged your life so that a pause never quite arrives. The stopping is not the danger you think it is.
